The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was searching Sunday for a suspect in connection with two stabbings that reportedly occurred outside The Outhouse, 1837 North 1500 Rd.
According to Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Lewis, deputies were dispatched at 1:53 a.m. to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where they contacted a 37-year-old Overland Park man and a 42-year-old Lee's Summit, Mo., man who had suffered non-life-threatening knife wounds.
The men reported they were assaulted at about 12:30 a.m. by a slender 5-foot-6 white man with brown hair. The suspect was last seen leaving the area in a dark-colored SUV. He was armed with a weapon that looked like a large box knife.
An Overland Park Regional Medical Center spokesperson could not provide updates on the two victims Sunday night.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information on the incident or suspect to call CrimeStoppers at (785) 843-8477.

5'6"? When we were told there was a stabbing, some of the girls and I thought it was a larger man who we was a jerk to me and another dancer, too.
I was told what the original argument was about, but I didn't hear it myself, so I won't write the rumor here. (But I will say it was not worth the weaponry).
I only saw the two men chest to chest, being all dramatic.
Notice to guys: getting into big, dramatic arguments is not impressive. In the same vein, escalating an argument into violence is really--truly--unnecessary.
Call a bouncer to hold the guy who grabbed someone, call the police, and have them deal with the situation. It's their job.

Vic, I'm not a lawyer, but I can assure you that what Bearded wrote wasn't libel. "Vic" is the log-on name of an anonymous user of the LJWorld website and is not the single name that is synonymous with the "real" you -- whoever you are. You aren't "Cher," "Bono," or "Madonna." If your actual name -- first and last -- were used in the telling of the joke, then you might have a point. Your single name, three letter logon of "Vic" might be the name you use to voice opinions here, but it doesn't actually represent the "real" person you are. Unless the LJWorld broke its own confidentiality rules and provides information about who you are, or you choose to give out more of your personal information, in no way can the joke be linked to the person who signs on here as "Vic." Thus, it can't possibly be libel.
For all we know, my real name could be Vic and your's could be Beatrice. Again, I say, lighten up, dude (or dudette, which ever the case may be). However, thanks for providing me an opportunity to practice my amateur lawyer skills.

It is criminal defamation that is published in a public forum. That is the definition of libel. If you have followed any kind of news, the "confidentiality rules" of any public forum can and have been broken in the case of a serious criminal investigation. So if they are subpoenaed by a court, I believe LJWorld would give up any info they had on any user at any time, so get that "invulnerable anonymity" ideal out of your head.
But the idea here is the difference between a joke and going too far. This was too far. I will not lighten up as I will not accept someone accusing me of a crime, attempting to destroy my reputation, and ruining my life as a result. I will protect my livelihood when I am threatened.

I think it is generally appreciated that "no sucking" and "no tasting" falls under the overall "no licking" rule, and I feel the "no stabbing" rule will follow in kind. Keep the rules as simple and to as few words as possible, I say. Things are less complicated that way.

If the rules are spelled out clearly then there is little room for excuses as "innocently" or "naively" breaking them. I understand it can get tedious putting it out there but I think it helps avoid some of the problems one could run into.
When you have people suing for things such as not being told not to use cleaning solution as a cocktail mixer, well.... you know how it goes. Although the labels do make for fine internet humor as evidenced by the many websites devoted to them.

I was told by Vic that since the girl's real name was not used in Anna's blog it was okay and that I was making a fuss over nothing. All I said about that issue is that it was a mean thing to do and interfered with the girl's ability to do her job - something that both Anna and Vic have taken issue with when they perceived someone or something doing that to them.

um, anna, I do believe that we actually were discussing aspects of the article, particularly the location of the incident and whether it was a law that you can't stab someone in the Outhouse, or whether it just break a club "rule." Had we been discussing, say, the price of tea in China, then you might have a case. But nope. We were talking about stabbings, the Outhouse, its customers, and the Outhouse's rules of conduct.
I also have no idea where you get off on claiming this is "internet bullying." I did nothing but counter the comments from someone claiming that a joke about an anonymous person was somehow the same as libel. Making such claims in an effort to shut down conversations, on the other hand, is what I see as an attempt at "internet bullying."
Likewise, "bad commenting" (whatever that means) begins when you can't take a joke. Nice of you to come to Vic's rescue, however.

Vic- a word of advice if I may.
Calm down and have a bit of a chuckle at yourself. We all make jokes about others, and sometimes we ourselves are the subject of the jokes. If you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at others.
I don't think they're trying to be mean-spirited towards you (at least not at first- not until you got defensive). Try to see the humor in their jokes- makes things less stressful and hurtful that way. That's all I'm saying. Take it for what it's worth.

Heck you could've even played off their jokes by somewhat admitting it was you. Suspect was 5'6"; you are 5'10". A joke about how you now have to go to the prothesis clinic for a set of artificial limbs for your lower legs would've been good.

Would you do what you do for a living if it paid the same as fast food, ie minimum wage? I know I wouldn't do what I am doing. Would a doctor be a doctor if he was only paid minimum wage? I would say most wouldn't. There might be a dedicated few who truly want be doctors despite the pay. One thing I know for sure, there would be fewer doctors in this world if this was the case. The reason we get these jobs is for the money. Sometimes, we really like what we do regardless of the money. You obviously haven't been following Anna's blogs or some of your questions you asked would have already been answered.
To catch you up... Anna worked for a non-profit organization as a day job for a while. She did what she enjoyed for no pay. To pay the bills, she took up stripping. Ultimately, she left her day job to solely dance for a living. I believe she intends to continue her education and get into law. As for lying about what she does, she has told her parents she waits tables. That's as far as I know.

What you are insinuating in your post made me angry. I don't know the motives of the gift giver, but I do know this. Your "holier-than-thou" attitude may have won you fans, but it has made you enemies as well. You like to assume things about Anna, about me, about MeowKitty, about everyone that are not true. Even though I love shennanigans as much as the next smartazz, I think it's imperative that if you want to ensite an issue Vic that not even the United States case law would back you on, you please do your research or take some CLE classes on Cyberlibel. By stating that you belive someone was libel (written format) against you is not a true statement. It has been pointed out by several posters that they must have direct identity match of whom you are, these are unanimous postings. Next, I believe there have been several instances in the past year where stabbings have occured at other fine refreshment serving establishments. Probably the most broadcast is the stabbing at Brothers, a non strip club, where people get into fights, and no fighting is posted clearly, and "rules is rules" so yes that would apply. Finally, by some of your continued posting and some help from Anna and her friends you are making the Outhouse a much publicized establishment, free pub. Maybe you didn't think the internet had reached Lee Summit... I hope the guys in the incident are okay, and the guy who stabbed them get's due punishment in a court of law, not Vic's court of law.

I didn't post anything remotely offensive. Nor did I threaten anyone directly or indirectly either. Apparently, the powers that be don't know their famous movie lines.
All I said was that if I am supposedly "stalking" Anna, (what a bunch of crap that is) then the people of Lawrenceshould "be afraid, be very afraid" since I am 5'6, white and have brown hair like the perp in the article.
I specifically did not mention "Anna" because 1) it was not directed towards Anna but the people of Lawrence, whom I am sure know that I don't pose a threat to them and 2) I didn't want to give Little Miss Precious, yet another reason to play victim.
However, just to make it clear to "Anna" and to the editors of Lawrence Journal World, it was a JOKE. I have not ever sent Anna a threatening email,(even though she likes to imply that I have....don't see you guys deleting that) nor have I or will ever pose a threat to Anna or any other person who wants to make their living grinding against drunken strangers.
I'm sure the citizens of Lawrence can now take a huge sigh of relief now that they know that they don't have to "be afraid."

yes, "our dear Anna" probably isn't a good example of somebody with a good head on her shoulders. neither is "Vic" but as with Irish, I choose not to infantilize them. they choose to come on here, having some familiarity with this forum.
ljworld admin apparently has done some actual encouragement of "our dear Anna." I would have gladly ignored her filth except it was showing up on other blogs and other story threads. so apparently ignoring was not working.
unfortunately, ignoring can be perceived as acceptance.

Bearded is absolutely correct. I too ignored for some time anna's using the ljworld site like it was a feature in Craigslist personals section. Finally couldn't stand it any longer. Now, I do let her know that stripping isn't just going to be accepted like it is waiting tables. Only reason Vic gets involved in any of it is if Vic inserts himself between anna and those letting her know how they feel about her and her line of work.
I believe there is a time and a place for everything, and in my opinion the stripper blog just isn't the sort of thing that belongs in a family paper. What next, a blog from the happy meth head, the carefree porn star, or the grumpy White Supremacist? (wait, they got rid of that last one, didn't they)

gnome, I whoeheartedly agree with you on the fabrication of Irish's innocence. I also pretty much agree with bea about the inappropriateness of a stripper blog on this newspaper. I guess my point was - why is this different? Where is the righteous indignation of some regarding the treatment of anna and vic? Some of us took some flack for basically telling Irish the truth on her blogs, why not now?
I have pointed out to anna the obsurdity of her "stalking" claims previously. She obviously wants the readers to believe she feels threatened, so how do we know she won't take what is said here and do something irrational with it?
