Hallmark Cards, Lawrence’s second largest private employer, reported on Tuesday significantly lower revenues for 2009.
The Kansas City, Mo.-based company reported consolidated revenue of $4.0 billion in 2009, down 8 percent from the previous year.
“2009 was one of the most challenging in Hallmark’s 100-year history,” Donald Hall Jr., Hallmark’s president and CEO, said in a press release.
In particular, the company saw revenue losses in its greeting card and gift wrap division. Lawrence’s Hallmark production plant is part of that division.
As a privately held company, Hallmark does not release profit and loss totals for its operations.
