Davis day-to-day for KU women

Bonnie Henrickson is keeping her fingers crossed that freshman standout Carolyn Davis will be cleared to play in the Big 12 tournament.

“She hasn’t practiced yet,” Henrickson said Tuesday afternoon. “We’ll have a much better idea tomorrow.”

Davis, a 6-foot-3 forward from Houston, suffered a concussion during last Friday’s practice session and was held out of Saturday’s 78-54 home loss to Texas A&M.

“She’ll take a battery of tests (today) and if the results are good and she feels OK,” Henrickson said, “they’ll let her practice.”

Thus Davis, who led KU in scoring (12.5) and rebounding (7.3) in conference games and was named to the league’s All-Freshman team, will remain listed as day-to-day for the tourney opener against Oklahoma State.

Tipoff will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium.
