Big Brothers Big Sisters needs adult volunteers who will help make a difference in the life of an at-risk child. A Big Brother or a Big Sister is matched with a child between the ages of 5 and 17. The volunteers agree to spend two to three hours a week providing caring adult friendship while participating in everyday activities. Orientation sessions for volunteers are held at 5:15 p.m. Tuesdays and noon Wednesdays at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office, 1525 W. Sixth St., Suite A. Immediate needs

• Audio-Reader is looking for a three more garden administrator captains for the Audio-Reader Sensory Garden. If you have exceptional gardening skills, extra time and work well with others, contact Audio-Reader. Duties would entail overseeing the general maintenance and upkeep and also helping to recruit new volunteers and manage existing garden volunteers. Responsibilities will be shared among five volunteer captains. Contact Brenda Bryant at 785-864-4634.

• Operation WildLife currently has several volunteer opportunities available. OWL is in need of wildlife rehabilitation volunteers, with duties including cleaning cages, feeding the animals, administering medication and many other tasks. Training will be provided. Shifts include weekday, evening and weekend hours. Operation WildLife is also in need of a front office assistant to help with data entry, filing and general office management. The hours and days are flexible. Operation WildLife is located in Linwood, about 15 minutes from Lawrence.
