• Randy Warren, with Custom Wood Products of Lawrence, was named second-place regional winner for the best use of Sub Zero & Wolf in the kitchen in the Roth Distributing Kansas City 2008/2009 Sub Zero & Wolf Kitchen Design Contest.

• Carol D. Rau, PHR, presented three seminars at the 2010 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America National Educational Conference held Feb. 8-12 as part of the Gold Industry Show in San Diego. Rau also provided individual career coaching to GCSAA members in attendance.

• Allen Press Inc. won multiple awards in the 2010 Marketing Plus competition conducted by the National Association for Printing Leadership, a trade association for the graphics communication industry. Allen Press received silver awards in customer event marketing and Web presence categories, and a merit award in direct mail marketing category.

• Brilla Highfill Scott, Lawrence, has been named the state executive director for the Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel. Scott began her responsibilities on March 1.

• Lawrence Medical Managers will host the workshop “Secrets to Prompt, Fair Payment in Kansas” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 26 at the Spring Hill Suites in Lawrence. • Dr. Warren Frick of Asthma, Allergy & Rheumatology successfully completed the maintenance of certification examination for the specialty of allergy and immunology in October. Dr. Frick serves patients in Lawrence and Topeka.

• Dr. James F. Otten of Lawrence has been inducted as a new member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. The Council of the Academy inducted its new members at the annual Scientific and Business meeting March 1 in Chicago.

• Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger is a 2010 recipient of the American Medical Association’s top government service award for an elected statewide official. This is the second time she has won an AMA service award. Praeger received a Dr. Nathan Davis Award at a March 2 dinner in Washington, D.C., as part of the AMA’s National Advocacy Conference.

• Rick Bryant, marketing and communications director for Airport Development Group Inc. of Lawrence, was recently appointed to the Airport Consultants Council National Committee for Airport Planners. ADG has served the City of Lawrence and the Lawrence Municipal Airport with planning and engineering services since 1990. Bryant was also a presenter at the 2010 Nebraska Aviation Symposium in January.
