Crews respond to structure fire west of Lecompton
A manufactured home several miles west of Lecompton was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.
When firefighters arrived at the house, 2080 E. 175 Road, it was engulfed in flames. The fire was reported about 5:20 a.m.
Will Shockley, assistant fire chief for Lecompton Fire Department, said the resident was in the process of moving out, and was not at home. He said the manufactured home and its contents were a total loss, but emergency crews saved a detached garage from the blaze.
While the cause of the fire is not known, foul play has been ruled out, Shockley said.
Several area fire departments helped fight the fire.
