World Company director wins media fellowship

Jane Stevens

Jane Stevens, director of media strategies for The World Company, is among 20 professionals selected to participate in the 2010 Knight-McCormick Leadership Institute, a program to help news leaders guide their organizations to success in a digital world.

Stevens joins others from AOL’s Patch.com, National Public Radio, PBS.org, the Center for Investigative Reporting and elsewhere as fellows in the six-month program, conducted by the Knight Digital Media Center at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Each fellow’s program will be tailored to meet each individual’s needs as a primary digital news leader, said Vikki Porter, the center’s director.

“We consider these to be among the best people positioned to make their organizations viable in the changing digital media landscape,” Porter said. “We want to provide them with expertise and resources that can make them even better.”

The World Company, Lawrence, owns the Lawrence Journal-World, 6News, LJWorld.com, Sunflower Broadband and other media operations, including WellCommons.com and KUSports.com.
