Two temporary stop signs near Kansas University now are permanent.

Commissioners approved requests to keep the multi-way stop signs at 11th and Louisiana streets and 11th and Mississippi streets.

Both stop signs had been installed on a temporary basis as part of the construction of The Oread, the hotel near 12th and Indiana streets.

Several KU leaders, though, asked for the stop signs to remain in place because they believed the intersections had become safer with the signs.
