Ballard Community Services will accept applications beginning Monday for its annual school kit program.

The program provides school supplies to public school children from families who qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Applications are available at the Ballard Center, 708 Elm St., and the Penn House, 1035 Pa. Applications will be accepted through the end of July.

Distribution of school supplies will take place in early August. Last year, the program made supplies available to more than 500 children.

School supplies are provided entirely by donations, which can be brought to either the Ballard Center or Penn House.

A financial contribution can be mailed to Ballard Community Services, P.O. Box 7, Lawrence KS, 66044. Checks should indicate in the memo line that the funds are for the school kit program.
