To the editor:

This is in regard to the editorial “Alarming data” on July 28. I am just as alarmed about this report as the writer of the editorial. What alarms me more is that from all indications, this community could care less. An article or editorial on abortion can generate over 200 replies to the online story. A report and editorial about children dying in this state from lack of food and medical care has generated seven replies. Three of those are mine.

There are children and babies dying in this state because their parents aren’t being given the resources to care for them, and President Obama’s birth certificate generated far more interest. It certainly does make me believe I live in the Land of Oz.
