The rush of students moving into Lawrence apartments will disrupt the city’s normal yard waste collection service.
City trash crews will not pick up yard waste on Aug. 2, but instead will run extra routes to pick up trash generated by students moving in and out of apartments.
Residents who need to dispose of yard waste on Aug. 2 will be allowed to set it out with their regular trash. The city’s normal schedule for yard waste collection will resume Aug. 9.

I'm surprised the city picks up yard waste at all. Why can't people mulch?

The Lawrence Sanitation Department will forgive all the landlords and apartment owners for the time of picking up piles and heaps. The Lawrence Sanitation Department will continue to charge extra or to refuse to collect residential customers if their trash does not conform to standard. Residential collection fees to increase.
