The Lied Center of Kansas is looking for volunteer ushers for the upcoming fall semester. Duties include greeting patrons, handing out programs, tearing tickets and assisting patrons with other seating needs. Ushers are typically needed for events in the evenings. • Headquarters Counseling Center has two volunteer information meetings scheduled next month.
The meetings will be from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 25 and Aug. 30 at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium, 707 Vt. Please attend to find out more about how to join the amazing group of dedicated volunteers who help staff the center day in and day out. • The Douglas County Fair is in need of volunteer building attendants to ensure the safety of 4-H and FFA projects during this year’s fair. The 4-H and FFA programs teach leadership, citizenship and life skills through projects that are showcased at the fair. Assistance is needed for the following shifts: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 4 and Aug. 5; 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 6; and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 7. • The Willow Domestic Violence Center is in need of assistance with weeding and caring for the grounds surrounding its new administrative offices at 1920 Moodie Road.
