Help at hand

To the editor:

I agree with everyone who thinks that now is a very bad time to be raising any kind of taxes and I share their confusion as to how any of our elected officials can think otherwise.

But fret not as our leaders have a plan to help us. The article “Public input sought on lean county budget” (Journal-World, July 18) states that one example of how the higher property tax will be spent is that the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will be able to hire a psychiatrist to serve low-income clients.

So as they push more people into the low-income ranks with higher taxes, we can get some mental health care! I think we will need it unless we can get those proposing these new taxes to get the same help right now in order to understand just how bad their idea really is.
