Eudora ? A Eudora man was rushed to the hospital by air ambulance Monday afternoon after falling from a ladder.

The accident happened at 2:30 p.m. The call was reported from 1524 Savage St., where the victim reportedly lives. A neighbor identified the fall victim as Richard Waring. According to the neighbor, Vera Lupandin, for the past two weeks Waring has been fixing up a camper that was donated to his family. The camper was parked next door to the Waring home, where a ladder was still standing after the accident happened.

Emergency crews rushed to help the victim and quickly determined that he needed to be transported by helicopter. A helicopter landed at West Elementary School, which is less than a block away from where Waring fell. He was listed in critical condition when the helicopter transported him.

Authorities say Waring’s wife was with him as they waited for the helicopter.

The neighbor described the Warings as a good family.

“My heart just sank, because I know this family; they are very nice people,” Lupandin said. She said the camper was going to be used for mission trips. Lupandin said that as soon as she heard the news of the accident she immediately called her family together to pray for Waring’s recovery. “I hope everything goes well for Richard,” Lupandin said.

Waring was taken to KU Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. He was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.
