Robert Wagner led the Free State High boys bowling team to a victory on Thursday at the Firebirds’ home quad at Royal Crest Lanes.

The Firebirds won with 2,542 pins. Wagner had the high series in the quad at 712, his third high series this season.

“He’s on fire,” Free State coach Anita Carlson said of Wagner. “This is the best I’ve seen him bowl in his four-year tenure with me. We’re hoping for a state berth as a team. If he keeps going like this, he’ll have a shot at a berth and possibly placing in top three.”

Adam Miltner had the second-highest series for Free State with a 622 series.

Justin Walthall (610), Connor Kring (598), Joel Bonner (583) and Nick Conrad (582) followed.

Olathe North (2,409) placed second, while Sumner Academy (2,195) and Shawnee Mission West (2,042) followed.

The Free State girls placed third with 2,069 pins. Olathe North won the girls quad.

Michelle Scheiffer led the Firebirds with a 533 series.
