To the editor:

Kudos to Tom Orzulak and his very dedicated crew. The streets and sidewalks of Lawrence are in much better shape following the last several snowfalls than many other communities to the east. These city employees spent the past holiday season not at home with family and friends, but out in frigid conditions making sure the rest of us could get out and about. Thank you for your dedication to duty.

Finally, someone who appreciates the work our street crew is doing. They have worked hard and long hours doing their best, only to have people complain endlessly about what they were doing. Great job guys!!!! Keep up the good work.

it wasn't the crews at fault but the City administration for not having enough funding to clear the streets. I don't know where the letter to the editor lives, but it took 3 days before my street was touched, and Johnson County's were done the next day.

The city did not run out of money. They only spent what they thought would be necessary for this winter.

The city keeps several millions around in contigency funds of sorts. For things like buying a failing business etc etc.

The crews did all that was reasonable and maybe even bordered on the heroic. They deserve thanks.

As for the rest, the ballot box is the appropriate place.
