Victim jailed on contempt charge after refusing to testify against two men in robbery case

A Douglas County judge on Wednesday ordered a man to spend 30 days in jail, one day after he refused to testify against two men accused of trying to rob him.

The 24-year-old man told Judge Robert Fairchild that he understood the court’s order, but that he was afraid of the defendants and would not testify.

On Tuesday, the man was taken into custody after he refused to take the stand during a preliminary hearing for Louis Galloway Jr., 19, Lawrence, and Timothy Hays, 20, Kansas City.

The victim shot both men during what prosecutors say was an attempted robbery on Aug. 23 at the victim’s mobile home at Easy Living Mobile Home Park, 3323 Iowa.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the cases against the two defendants.
