Party vote

To the editor:

I’m saddened by the fact that our two senators voted along party lines against the health care bill. Apparently they’d rather have thousands of Kansans lose their health care every month than go along with the Democratic majority and pass a bill made weaker, not stronger, by the concessions made to Sen. Lieberman, who stripped the bill of any government support, making it much more attractive to Republicans. But, still, not one of them voted for it, opting instead to continue the status quo, with thousands or even millions of sick people getting their health care in emergency rooms: too little, too late and too expensive to the rest of us and to the hospitals.
