Dallas Tonsager, undersecretary of rural development for the United States Department of Agriculture, will attend the Kansas Farmers Union’s state convention on Jan. 8-9 at the Lawrence Holidome.

In addition to Tonsager, the KFU state convention will feature presentations from Kansas Treasurer Dennis McKinney, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Josh Svaty and National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson.

One of the main educational forums, titled “Exploring Health Care Reform – Canadian style,” will feature three professionals from the Canadian health care system and others. Other sessions will focus on Kansas Community Foundations, local food, Washington politics and energy opportunities.
