Free State bowlers finish in second

? The Free State High boys and girls placed second Monday in a triangular at Ranch West Bowling Center.

Robert Wagner had the high series for the boys with a 609, while Gretel Briand’s 542 led the girls team.

“It was a tough day. We started out slow,” Free State coach Anita Carlson said. “It was a little bit more oil than what they’re used to. Every house is different. Bowling at your own house all the time, you get used to that. Learning to adjust and work with that is the key. They plowed through it and didn’t have mental breakdowns.”

Free State will compete in a dual at 3:30 p.m. today against Lawrence High at Royal Crest Lanes.
