Donation dates
To the editor:
I’m writing this in concern of the donations to the food pantries. I have observed many people I know who have been on the receiving end of the food, most of which had to be thrown away because of being expired. I think people need to be aware of the seriousness of this because these people had to go without food due to the fact that you may only go once a month to the pantries or every three months.
Some people I know work, but their bills take up all their money. These are families; their children need to eat. So I want the public to be aware of what they donate. The whole box of food that was received, all of it was expired. Why in the world would another family want to eat what you really wanted to throw away in the trash.
By the way, the food pantries need to read all the expiration dates as well. So, Lawrence and surrounding areas, be aware of this concern before you leave the pantry or even go to the pantry. Read the expiration dates!
