A 24-year-old Lawrence man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital early Tuesday morning after being stabbed.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Michael McLaren, police were dispatched about 3:10 a.m. to the 1300 block of New Hampshire Street.

McLaren said the victim had gotten into an argument with an acquaintance at a residence in the area. The acquaintance, who is the suspect in the incident, stabbed the victim in the chest.

The victim was taken to LMH, where his condition was not immediately available Tuesday afternoon. McLaren said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect fled before officers arrived. Police said the suspect was described as a Native American man in his mid-40s, standing 6-foot-1, weighing 250 pounds, with medium-length brown hair and no facial hair.

Officers received varying descriptions of the suspect's clothing. He was said to be wearing either a camouflage-pattern jump suit or a blue jacket with black jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lawrence Crime Stoppers hot line, 843-TIPS (8477).

If the police need help finding this guy ... then why wouldn't they release the suspect's name in the paper? Maybe I assume "acquaintence" means you might know what the guy's name is. Just saying. The description is pretty vague.

I know wampum isnt alcohol, who said it was? I'm really not racist but whatever. I just like getting people all worked up over nothing and you took the bait.... suckers. Come on, you all were just dying for an excuse to vent, because thats what you do!

ascHINU990~ If it's any comfort, yes, ignorant bigots such as flux would still make ignorant bigoted comments if it were a black person involved. White? Not so much.

I'd give Manhattan a break, here--Lawrence rednecks make up in volubility whatever they might lack in number.

Flux: wampum isn't alcohol as many believe its a type of rock made for jewelry.

Anti public public buildings. The police station is not empty, it is staffed at all times. Both the Police station and City Hall are designed to neither observe the immediate exterior or to be accessible or visible to the public. Go into either building and you are in an empty foyer. City Hall has improved a little with their window to planning. Anti public public buildings. As for handicapped accessible, sure if you don't mind walking a block for either. I remember when some creep followed me, I drove up to the station on Vermont, got immediate help.

flux knows that the comments he/she is posting are racist. that is why they obviously removed them. ignorant.

just so you know, my alcohol reference wasn't race based, it was stupidity based.

0

ascHINU990 4 years, 2 months ago

so.... I keep seeing these racist comments pertaining to this article because the accused person was thought to be a Native American. It is fairly ignorant to post such things when people are people and there are good ones and bad ones. Let me ask you a question.... would you post racist comments if it were a white man or an African American man that was accused in this case? Or would the article even say anything about the man's race if he were white? This is Lawrence not Manhattan so lets please stop acting like rednecks.

The good news is that they knew each other. I get scared when strangers stab strangers. When friends stab friends, I figure they should have seen it coming.

From: the CJ online: "Police officers are still looking for the attacker, who fled the scene after the incident. Sgt. Bill Cory said he was described as a Native American male, who stood 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed about 250 pounds. He had medium-length hair and no facial hair.

The Lawrence Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident."

And the current ad at the bottom of this page is for: (1) a springfield xd 5" barrel, 45ACP, (2) a Springfield Xd, 4" Barrel, .45ACP (3) Glock Garrell, G21 .45acp (4) a Glock Barrel G30 .45ACP. Somehow I seem to recall something about bringing a knife to a gun fight.

is this a threat? surely that is against usage agreements...and seriously, a threat is way more damaging than a misspelling of an extended 4 letter word for excrement.

by the way, was this in response to the alcohol comment or the excremental neighborhood comment?

Jumpsuit?? Probably not, probably a pair of coveralls for hunting. Jumpsuit is so, well... Lah wrence. There is another word, but, I think they arrest you for saying it now that it is politically incorrect for anyone to use outside of the gay community.

@Renaissance - you and several other people need to remember one thing - at most times (except normal business hours) the police station itself is pretty empty. We actually pay these guys to go out and patrol the entire city, not just one building. Chances are pretty good the responders came from severl blocks away. Oh, and don't forget there is the small fact of a guy being stabbed in the chest who probably needed immediate care (yes, pd makes it to most scenes before medical, and in fact in a situation like this medical won't go in until the scene is secure.).

0

Stuart Evans 4 years, 2 months ago

lemme guess... alcohol involved?

It was either bright pink or somber black. But I got a good look.
