An open house to discuss the future for a 22-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 56 is being taken to a school in Baldwin City, to ensure plenty of room for attendees.
Representatives from the Kansas Department of Transportation and its project partners will be available to discuss draft recommendations in the U.S. 56 Corridor Management Plan from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Baldwin Elementary School-Intermediate Center Commons Area, 100 Bullpup Drive in Baldwin City.
Thursday’s event originally had been scheduled for the American Legion Hall in Baldwin City, but organizers opted for a larger space to handle exhibits, documents and visitors.
The draft recommendations envision more lanes for the highway on both sides of Baldwin City. Other possibilities include reconfigured intersections and potential access limitations.

What , they are going to move the highway to the school or does this mean that "Baldwin School will the location of a discussion for Highway 56"
I want to go to the meeting if the highway is being moved, that should be fun. Lots of dump trucks with dirt and cement.

Wilbur, assuming the headline hasn't been revamped since you posted, your criticism is faulty--the line is flawless as written, with no ambiguity in meaning. As for our qualifications, I'll stake my highest-honors English degree against your Eudora semiliteracy any day...
There are plenty of screwy headlines out there, begging us to jab fun at them, but this one is good to go.

Nope, should read( Open House at Baldwin School to discuss Highway 56 Corridor Management Plan)
It is only good to go, to the wastebasket.

It looks like the plan is to jam all the trucks from the intermodal onto 56 without providing sufficient capacity.
Why?

Obviously, you will think whatever you want, Wilbur... Yours is okay, but theirs is better, as it packs in one more bit of info--that the venue has changed since the original planning of the meeting.
Ralph--I think KDOT has figured out that that's exactly what will happen if they don't start planning for the traffic. I, for one, would love to see that stretch of road widened (whether the intermodal happens or not).

That pesky past tense of the word "move" is where it all hinges.
For example: "Open house to discuss Highway 56 move to Baldwin City school" would imply that the highway may move to a school.
However, the head line as written, "Open house to discuss Highway 56 moved to Baldwin City school," implies, as noted above, that the venue has changed from a previous venue.
That all aside, I hope that they don't widen the highway and I hope the speed limit gets lowered back down to 55 mph. But I only drive that way on Sundays so I don't really know how much traffic it gets during the week. Maybe it does need to be four lanes.

I think the headline should read, "The State of Kansas will do whatever it wants to whomever it wants and doesn't really care what you think, although it pretends to."

bcman nails it!
GardenMomma~ FYI~ Yes, it was originally to be held at a smaller venue, then they decided there might be a bigger turnout.
