Douglas County commissioners todaywill consider providing $277,715 to assist the city in improving 31st Street and Kasold Drive.
But Keith Browning, the county engineer and public works director, will recommend against helping the city because of issues with East 1200 Road. That road runs from Douglas County Road 458 to the intersection of 31st and Kasold.
In a memo, Browning said the state has a long-term plan to extend Wakarusa Drive south to connect with County Road 458 — so it would be too expensive for the county to spend money now to improve 31st Street and Kasold Drive.
Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass. The county will not have a 6:35 p.m. meeting this week.
