Trafficway surveying to continue Wednesday

Engineering survey work along the South Lawrence Trafficway will extend into Wednesday, with the highway reduced to one lane for traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between North 1500 Road and Clinton Parkway.

Flaggers alternately will stop traffic between the two points, with a pilot car leading vehicles through the work zone.

Surveyors are gathering engineering data for the design of a potential new trafficway interchange at North 1500, which is Bob Billings Parkway in the city of Lawrence. The project has been pursued by governmental leaders but has yet to secure any money for construction.
