Douglas County Senior Services has won an award that will help it continue serving the area’s elderly.
The award was given to the Senior Meals Program, a division of the county service, for an essay written about a few dedicated volunteers. The winning essay resulted in a $500 prize for the local agency. The money will be used to help meet a growing demand for meals for seniors in the community.
The essay can be read by logging on to mowaablog.org and searching for Douglas County Senior Services, Inc. Facebook users can ‘Like’ the essay, with the most ‘liked’ essay receiving an additional $500.
