Tonganoxie ? The Tonganoxie City Council will have a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to interview two finalists for the city’s chief of police.

The decision to schedule the special meeting came after two hours of executive sessions at Monday’s council meeting.

City Administrator Mike Yanez said the city received 20 applicants for the position. A five-member search committee interviewed four candidates before recommending the two finalists to the council.

The new chief will replace retiring Police Chief Kenny Carpenter.
