Power restored to more than 2,600 after tree limbs fall on power line

Tree limbs on a power line are to blame for a power outage in Douglas County that affected more than 2,600 people.

As of 2:20 p.m., Westar reported power back to all Douglas County residents except one.

According to a Westar representative, the outage was reported and crews were on their way to fix it. He said he didn’t know how bad the damage was, but it should have been an easy fix. According to Douglas County emergency dispatchers, the tree limbs went down in the 500 block of Louisiana Street. The fire department has cleared the scene.

The outage was concentrated around Sixth and Iowa Streets, Sixth Street west of Massachusetts Street and Ninth Street east of Iowa Street.
