County priorities

To the editor:

I would like to echo Cait McKnelly’s concern for our children (Public Forum, July 31). Children (and adults) in Douglas County are hungry and in need of medical care. I do not object to the reasons for the tax increase, especially adding a psychiatrist for Bert Nash.

However, I question the priorities of the County Commission. Shouldn’t government’s first priority be to care for its citizens? Children do not vote. It is our duty and moral obligation to speak for them and to care for them.
