Postal carriers organize food drive, set for May 8

Area residents soon will be able to deliver help for the area’s hungry, by donating food to be picked up by postal carriers.

The 18th annual National Food Drive, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, is set for May 8. The event’s theme is “Stamp Out Hunger.”

Carriers will pick up bags of nonperishable food items left at mailboxes, for distribution to area food banks. Last year’s drive collected 73.4 million pounds of food nationwide.
