Runners, joggers, walkers and others will have a chance to compete against one another while also supporting a scholarship program at Kansas University.
The first Dr. Bob Run is set for 8 a.m. Saturday, starting and finishing at the Burge Union on the KU campus.
The run, a 5K, honors Bob Frederick, a former KU athletics director who died last year. Frederick was an avid runner and cyclist.
Registration — which includes a race T-shirt — is $20 through Friday, or $25 on Saturday. Registration forms are available through Friday from Phill Vardiman at Robinson Center. Walk-up registration will be available Saturday until 7:30 a.m.
Proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund for students in sports management, a program in which Frederick had been teaching as an assistant professor.

Are there places that this would have been advertised? I feel like seeing a story 2 days before doesnt offer a lot of people time to try to participate in this event. Had I known about this 2 weeks ago, I would have done it. Now, I have other plans in KCMO on Saturday morning.
