Lawrence police officers detained a 15-year-old boy Tuesday morning who had walked away from Douglas County Youth Services, 330 Industrial Lane.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Lewis said the boy walked away from the facility around 9:30 a.m. while being processed for intake.

Lawrence police officers located him about 30 minutes later in the 1700 section of East 1500 Road, just south of Interstate 70.

That location is about a half-mile from the Youth Services building.
