Pinwheels on Peoples Bank lawn Thursday will draw attention to campaign to prevent child abuse
Douglas County CASA is planting a pinwheel garden in front of its CASA playhouse as part of Prevent Child Abuse America’s Pinwheels for Prevention campaign.
The event will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Bank, 3045 Iowa, where the playhouse is on display.
CASA staff and bank employees will be handing out pinwheels, blue ribbon awareness cards and other materials promoting awareness and prevention of child abuse.
CASA will also take $1 donations for the chance to win the CASA playhouse. This year’s playhouse is designed and built by Lawrence pediatrician Marshall Kelley of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Nationwide, the pinwheel is being introduced as a symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention.
