Man arrested after striking family member with bottle

A 24-year-old Lawrence man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly striking a family member with a bottle.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, police were called to the 3100 block of Ranger Drive about 4 a.m. in reference to a disturbance, believed to be a fight. Officers who arrived at the scene were told that the man had been disorderly and had battered his girlfriend. Hadl said the man’s stepfather had tried to intervene when he was allegedly assaulted with a bottle.

The man was eventually restrained by the stepfather and another family member called the police.

No one was seriously injured during the incident.

The man was booked into the Douglas County Jail about 4:49 a.m. on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
