The Kansas Arthritis Foundation needs four to six people to volunteer on May 8 for the annual Walk for Arthritis. Volunteers will stand on the walk route to assist people with directions, hand out water and other tasks. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the awards will conclude at 10:30 a.m. This event will begin at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, 1421 Research Park Drive, near Bob Billings Parkway and Wakarusa Drive.

Immediate needs

• Sunflower School needs help with its carnival on May 8. Volunteers can work any of the one-hour shifts, or all three. The first shift, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., will entail minor setup tasks. The second shift is from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and the last one, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. will involve cleanup responsibilities. There will be booths, concessions, inflatables, a dunk tank and other carnival activities that volunteers can assist with. • Plymouth Congregational Church seeks volunteers to provide child care for parents while they attend English as a second language classes from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
