Traffic on Douglas County Road 458 — known as Wells Overlook Road — will experience stop-and-go conditions Thursday as crews move heavy equipment across the road, just east of U.S. Highway 59.

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects drivers to face delays of up to a minute at a time, as flaggers stop traffic to allow equipment to move in conjunction with construction of a new U.S. 59 freeway. The freeway eventually will connect the southern edge of Lawrence with a new freeway section already open in Franklin County.
