Library book sale begins Thursday

The Friends of the Lawrence Public Library is hosting its spring Book Sale, beginning Thursday at the corner of Seventh and Kentucky streets.

The sale, which benefits the library, offers shoppers a wide variety of books at reduced prices. This year, the sale will also feature the 70th Explorers group dressing up as Star Wars “bad guys” on Sunday.

Here’s the sale schedule:

• Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. This day is for members only, and memberships are available for $10.

• Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Sunday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Half-price day.

• Monday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Books are $7 per bag.

• Tuesday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Books are $5 per bag.

• April 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Giveaway day.

• April 25, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Giveaway day.

I've always wondered why the sale has to be drug out over 5 days? I usually go, have for years. But the sale the Topeka library has is much better. Prices are more realistic for one thing.
