Golfers to raise funds for clinic

Golfers can help put smiles on the faces of low-income Douglas County residents by participating in a tournament that benefits the Douglas County Dental Clinic.

Last year, the clinic had 6,000 patient visits, and roughly half of those were children.

The third annual “Open Wider” four-person scramble tournament will be April 30 at Alvamar Golf and Country Club, 1800 Crossgate Drive.

Here are details:

• noon — registration begins; putting contest.

• 1 p.m. — tournament starts.

• 5 p.m. — dinner, awards banquet and cash bar.

• Cost is $100 per person.

• To register, visit www.dcdclinic.org.

• For information, contact Julie Branstrom, executive director, at 312-7770, Ext. 207.

Special guest will be new Kansas University head football coach Turner Gill.

The golf tournament is the major fundraiser for the clinic. Last year, it raised about $6,000.
