Web site to improve social services
Local churches and social service agencies are looking to the Internet to improve services for people who are in need.
A meeting of area providers from noon to 1 p.m. today at First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 W. Sixth St., will discuss linking area agencies to the Kansas City, Mo.-based Web site, MAACLink. That would allow agencies to share information about people they serve. MAACLink is operated by the Mid America Assistance Coalition, and currently assists social service agencies in the Kansas City area.
Joe Stiles, senior pastor at First Southern Baptist, said that having a central information-sharing site would enable agencies to “know what has already been provided when a client seeks assistance from our church or agency.”
The overall goal would be to improve efficiency for agencies providing social services in the area, he said.
