Co-op raises funds for autism walk

The Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative was host to a free health fair Sept. 9 at its offices.

More than 25 vendors offered services and information about physical health, financial health, flu shots, cholesterol screenings and blood pressure testing.

During the fair, a check for $504 was presented to the Walk for Autism and accepted by Dixie Jones. She and her husband, Mike, an LJEC employee, have a son who has had a diagnosis of autism. The funds represent the efforts of LJEC, its board and employees over the last month of fundraising and donation lunches.

The Walk for Autism is scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Kansas Speedway.
