One injured in early-morning accident

Emergency personnel transported 26-year-old Dario Pacheco, Topeka, to Stormont Vail hospital early Wednesday after his 2007 Nissan Titan truck, traveling westbound on Highway 40, veered off the road, struck two trees, and rolled over several times.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Pacheco sustained serious injuries and was unconscious when emergency crews arrived.

The accident occurred about 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 40 and East 200th Road, between Lawrence and Topeka.

Authorities had no further information on the driver or the driver’s condition Wednesday evening. It was unclear whether alcohol was involved in the accident.
