Jenkins’ stand

To the editor:

I was sickened to see a very large piece of political propaganda from Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, in the guise of a constituent survey, appear in my mailbox, at taxpayer expense. I for one do not want my tax money spent on thinly disguised political ads. The congresswoman mailed out an attack ad against health care reform that mirrors her comments around the district. It is clear that she has no clear plan to offer and only wants to tear down or attack any proposal that is not approved by her political party.

Wake up, Lynn Jenkins! Half of the people in this district are not being represented! I believe most of the people in the district want health care reform. Stop using scare tactics by talking about government takeovers, cuts to Medicare, rationing and higher taxes, to frighten the people.

Jenkins said that she does not support government-sponsored plans. Does that mean she does not support Medicare and Medicaid? Jenkins is not in favor of spending money on a health care plan, but she is willing to give everyone the money to go purchase insurance on their own. Isn’t that the same thing?

This is not a time for party politics. It is a time to find a solution to help the uninsured of our nation. I am sure that if Lynn Jenkins spent a year on Medicaid, she would be more interested in change.

Lynn Jenkins needs to remember who she works for, the voters.
