KU chancellor to visit state fair on Saturday

While she may not opt for Pronto Pups, roasted corn, chicken-and-noodles or other fair fare, new KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little certainly will get a taste of the Sunflower State during her visit to the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.

Gray-Little, who started Aug. 15 as Kansas University’s top administrator, will tour the fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday with state Rep. Mike O’Neal, a Republican from Hutchinson and Speaker of the House.

Gray-Little will meet and greet the public from 11 a.m. to noon at the KU booth in the Meadowlark Building, before heading off to a legislative luncheon and a series of private meetings and receptions throughout the afternoon.

“This is part of her ongoing effort to get to know the state and the state to get to know her,” said Todd Cohen, a KU spokesman.

The fair started Friday and continues through Sept. 20.
