Several Lawrence-area men will try their hands in the kitchen this weekend in an effort to raise scholarship money for local students.

The Lawrence branch of the NAACP will host its annual Real Men Cook event at 4 p.m. Saturday at Steve’s Place, 1388 N. 1293 Road, near 31st and Louisiana streets.

Proceeds will benefit the branch’s NAACP scholarship fund and its general fund.

A variety of guest chefs will cook their favorite dishes for people to sample. Judges will award prizes in several categories.
