Military vehicle gets stuck in North Lawrence construction zone

A convoy of military vehicles got stuck in North Lawrence Thursday, leading to traffic back-ups coming into town from the Kansas Turnpike and out of downtown and into North Lawrence.

Lawrence police stopped traffic at the river bridges downtown as they directed traffic around the stalled vehicle. Traffic was also turned around north of the stalled vehicle and directed to the West Lawrence exit of the Kansas Turnpike.

Once the stalled vehicle was moved out of the way, the convoy moved south and stopped along Sixth Street west of downtown. Traffic was again moving in and out of North Lawrence with only normal construction-related delays as of 10:45 a.m.

More information as it becomes available.
