Two people were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident that occurred when an SUV stopped to avoid dogs in the roadway.

According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority accident report, a 71-year-old Indiana woman was driving a Toyota SUV near Turnpike milepost 203 when she stopped in traffic to prevent hitting two large dogs. A Toyota, driven by a 17-year-old Topeka girl, ran into the rear of the stopped SUV.

The passenger of each car was injured and transported to the hospital. The injured occupant of the SUV was a 72-year-old man, and the injured occupant of the Toyota was a 15-year-old girl.

Neither driver was hurt. All occupants of the cars were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The accident occurred at 9:54 a.m.

The hometowns of the injured people were not provided. The conditions of the injured people were not available Sunday night.
