Walgreens bringing wellness tour to Lawrence

The AARP/Walgreens Wellness bus tour will be stopping in Lawrence.

The nationwide bus tour is delivering free health screenings and health education to people of all ages.

The bus will be in Lawrence from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Walgreens, 3421 W. Sixth St.

Available screenings are worth more than $140 per person, and no appointment is necessary. Screenings include: total cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels, waist circumference, and Body Mass Index.

Walgreens also is distributing up to $1 million worth of seasonal flu shots to uninsured during the tour. Vouchers for a free flu shot will be given to uninsured participants, who are 18 years old or older, and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. The vouchers can be used at any Walgreens pharmacy or Take Care Clinic.

From Sept. 8 through Sept. 30, Walgreens pharmacies and clinics will have pharmacists or nurse practitioners on staff from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, offering seasonal flu shots on a walk-in basis or by appointment for $24.99. Shots are available outside those hours if an immunizing pharmacist or nurse practitioner is on duty.

Walgreens has a second store in Lawrence at 400 W. 23rd St.
