Too much advice

October 30, 2009

To the editor:

This is about former Vice President Dick Cheney’s comment that President Obama is taking too long in making a decision on whether to send more troops into Afghanistan or not.

Recently, Gen. Stanley McChrystal said the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating and that more troops are needed.

It should be noted that Sen. John McCain and other military experts advised President Bush to consider a troop surge in the war in Iraq. President Bush, after nearly three months of studying the request for more troops, then ordered a surge, which did, in fact, improve the situation in Iraq.

As for Mr. Cheney’s comments, the former vice president should keep his promise to America and go trout fishing in Wyoming.

No other nation in the world has the ability to take over the USA by military power?

Why do americans support USA military occupation of other countries?

Would americans welcome military occupation of the USA by another foreign military super power?

Would americans support the mass killing of our families by another foreign super power? Millions of innocent people have died since the mideast invasion began including close to 6,000 of our own soldiers. WHY?

Ten's of thousands of our soldiers have become disabled since the mideast invasion began which is no fun for them or their families. The estimated cost to support these unfortunate families for the next 40 -50 years is 4 trillion dollars.

Isn't it time to bring the troops home to their families and devote war dollars toward rebuilding our nations economy, create new industry and put 20 million people back to work making money instead of making war?

Do we want to bury the USA in arrogance and debt to other governments?

So the left wants us to get out of Afganistan, let the Taliban take over the country, rebuild its terrorist training, and blow up some more of the United States....very interesting. Pass it to our grandkids along with a multi-trillion dollar debit. Cool ! Merrill even says tens of thousands of US troops have became disabled since the war began....that is so wrong it is almost funny.

Obama clearly said Bush took his eye off the ball and Afganistan is critical to our National Security. Well OK Mr. President...do something about it. Obama said Bush did not listen to the military commanders....well Mr. President listen to your hand picked military commander. And for those who think you know more about national security than Dick Cheney....check his biography and then look at yours....as a non defense expert living in Lawrence, Kansas. You just might be taking yourself a little bit too serious. Seriously!
