$1,000 grant available for adoption costs

October 26, 2009

The Jim Carr Memorial Fund for Adoption is accepting applications from families looking for help with the costs of adopting a child. One award of $1,000 will be given this year.

Applicants must live in Douglas County and submit a home form compiled by a specially licensed social worker with their application. Both domestic and international adoptions will be considered, as will private adoptions. Single parents are eligible, but completed adoptions won’t be considered.

The award will cover $1,000 of verifiable adoption costs including the agency fee, country fee and orphanage donation.

The deadline is Nov. 1. For more information or application materials, visit or call Marilyn Hull at 843-8727.
