KU organization to offer pumpkin carving

The Kansas University Dance Marathon organization will be host to a pumpkin carving and painting event on Monday.

Students, faculty and Lawrence children will be able to paint or decorate any of the 100 pumpkins from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday on the lawn of Strong Hall for a suggested $5 donation.

The event is open to the public, and supplies will be provided. Proceeds from the event will benefit Children’s Miracle Network. Prizes will be awarded to winners of a most creatively decorated pumpkin contest.

KU Dance Marathon is a nonprofit student organization that raises money for the local Children’s Miracle Network. The group features a dance marathon in April along with other events throughout the year.

Last year — its first in existence — the group raised $20,000.
